Community Description:Steve/Bucky prompt meme focusing on canon-compliant and canon-divergent prompts and fills

What is this?

A Steve/Bucky prompt meme focusing on canon-compliant and canon-divergent prompts and fills.

Why "cannonade"?

It's a play on "canon" and "cannon". A cannonade is a period of continuous, heavy gunfire. The idea is to bombard the Steve/Bucky fandom with canon-based fics.

What types of prompts and fills can I post?

All prompts and fills must have Steve/Bucky, Steve & Bucky, or Steve/Bucky/Other(s) as the main pairing and focus. Pairings other than Steve/Bucky, Steve & Bucky, or Steve/Bucky/Other(s) are allowed as past, side, or background pairings, but cannot be the focus of the prompt or fill.

Canon-compliant prompts and fills are set in the main canon universe rather than an alternate universe (AU). In the case of a non-canon ship like Steve/Bucky, "canon-compliant" is kind of a sliding scale, but as a general rule, canon-compliant prompts and fills should try to be consistent with known canon details, plot developments, backstory, etc. or, at minimum, try not to contradict them.

Canon divergence AUs are canon-compliant until the divergence point and typically answer a "what if" question in response to a change in a canon event, such as "What if Steve fell from the train with Bucky and they both became Winter Soldiers?" or "What if Bucky took Steve with him after rescuing him from the Potomac instead of walking away by himself?"

Canon-divergent prompts and fills for the Steve/Bucky Cannonade are required to be canon-compliant at least through the beginning of Captain America: The First Avenger or the comics universe of choice. For MCU-based prompts and fills, that means, among other things, that Steve and Bucky must have been born in the late 1910s, that they must have been childhood friends in Brooklyn during the Depression, that Bucky must have been a sergeant in the 107th, and that Steve must have attempted unsuccessfully to enlist on several occasions in different cities. Beyond that, you can choose a divergence point at any time during later canon, from "Steve never meets Erskine" to "Bucky doesn't go into cryo at the end of Captain America: Civil War".

Other types of AUs are not permitted.
